WE DEFEND ROJAVA, THE HOPE OF PEOPLES LIVING TOGETHER!
The Rojava Revolution, which embodies the hope for all peoples to live together democratically, under women’s leadership and on ecological foundations, is under attack by ISIS’s successor, HTŞ, jihadist gangs, and imperialist powers. Rojava, which brings together all peoples on its land in a geography of religious and sectarian conflicts, patriarchal power structures, and nationalist strife, has managed to survive without compromising its fundamental principles, paying a heavy price to date. Imperialist states, in a time when regional wars of division are accelerating, want to spread the feeling that peoples cannot fight for freedom and equality. Led by the US, UK, Israel, and the Turkish state, they support HTŞ, seeking to put an end to the gains of the people-centered, decentralised system built step by step over years under occupation and siege.
The 2026 war budget of Turkey, which imposed poverty wages on minimum wage workers and pensioners at the end of last year, is being used to steal from workers’ labor, young people’s futures, our living spaces, our commons, and nature, and to massacre Kurds, Alevis, Druze, and other peoples of the region in Syria and attack their right to live together in freedom and equality.
The ecological destruction taking place on these lands today is no accident; it is the result of global capitalist policies of appropriation, which commodify nature—the habitat of humans and other species. From the Amazon to Palestine, from Congo to Turkey and Kurdistan, to Venezuela and Iran, the current attacks on these regions reflect the different manifestations of the colonialist and militarist assaults of the rising competition between imperialists. This line of destruction knowing no border is a front that displaces and erases the memory of peoples through the resource imperialism of the military-industrial complex and energy monopolies. In the same lands, while war is imposed on the people and nature is destroyed by war in one place, a real ecological struggle cannot be waged in another; without stopping the war in Rojava and defending its ecological principles, a nature defense that transcends borders is not possible.
Recent days witnessed, as a result of the attacks from Tabqa to Deir ez-Zor, the El-Omer oil field and the Conoco natural gas facility were seized by jihadist gangs, while Shell announced the end of its operations. American companies such as Chevron and ConocoPhillips immediately sat down at the table with the HTŞ administration. Meanwhile, the Tabqa Dam, which meets the basic energy and water needs of the people, has been seized, and the Tishreen Dam has been targeted with heavy bombardment. The centralization of water and energy and its transformation into a weapon of war and blackmail is leaving tens of thousands of people without water and inviting epidemics. The aim is to liquidate the Rojava Revolution in this way.
HTŞ is one of the biggest obstacles to a democratic future with its attacks on Kurds, Druze, Alevis, Armenians, Chaldeans, Christians, and other peoples in the region. The destruction carried out by Zionist occupation and Salafi jihadist structures under the name of holy conquest forms a front hostile to the people, together with imperialist states and colonialist, reactionary, fascist states in the region. Any logistical and political support given to these jihadist structures targets the integrity of life and nature. The sole purpose of these attacks is to maintain the hegemony and functioning of imperialist capitalism. This barbarism is also evident in the special war policies targeting women. The exposure of the body of a killed female fighter in Aleppo and the targeted massacres of women are a continuation of the systematic violence directed by the ISIS mentality against women, lgbti+’s, and the idea of gender liberation.
Our Call to the International Ecology and Climate Justice Movement:
The attack on the Rojava Revolution by imperialist states and fascist jihadist gangs is also a move against climate justice and an attack on the international environmental struggle. Rojava is a source of hope and a gain not only for the peoples of the region but also for the peoples of the world.
The ecological struggle is essentially a struggle for peace and cannot be thought of independently of the democratization of society on all fields. Defending Rojava, which offers a pluralistic, democratic, and ecological model of life against the misogynistic, anti-nature, and monistic barbarism of HTŞ and similar jihadist structures, will sow the seeds for new revolutions. Standing against war and genocide, the greatest ecological destruction, is our shared responsibility.
We call on all international ecology and climate justice organizations, especially those in Turkey, which defend the freedom of peoples and the right to equal, ecological, and coexistent life, and which struggle in this direction, to stand with the Rojava resistance, to speak out against the massacres, to take to the streets, to increase solidarity, and to surround all state institutions, especially the Turkish and US embassies.
Fascism and imperialism will be defeated, united peoples will win!
Bijî berxwedana Rojava!
